When talking

verb to cook.

You can cook food or a meal,

There are
different verbs for particular ways of cooking: with water, oil or in dry heat.

Boil煮沸;烧开
You can boil vegetables, eggs, rice, etc. by covering them with water and heating to
the boiling point
(=i〇〇°C).
